EVMS Launches New Biotechnology Master’s Program
Beginning in the fall of 2013, EVMS will offer a uniquely integrative Biotechnology Master’s Program that provides students with hands-on training in state-of–the–art molecular, genomic, proteomic, cellular and imaging techniques combined with training in laboratory research design and management. The goal is to train students for careers in the biomedical sciences, biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors.
The EVMS Biotechnology Master’s Program is an accelerated curriculum of 16 months. The program offers a unique balance of hands-on training in a diverse set of research technologies and solid theoretical training in molecular and cellular biology and experimental design.
This innovative program includes a six-month research internship, which can be completed on campus in an EVMS research laboratory, in the EVMS Molecular Core Laboratory or off-campus through one of our biotechnology industry partners, providing students with a range of applied research training in disease models, bioprocessing, virology, molecular diagnostics, regenerative medicine, imaging and immunology. Graduates gain a broad set of research skills using cutting-edge technologies and receive valuable laboratory management and communication training, preparing them for careers in the biomedical sciences, biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors.
Opportunities are sought for internships with biotechnology companies. Information about the program and application process can be found at http://www.evms.edu/education/masters_programs/biotechnology_masters_program/.
