This Up & Atom Women’s Leadership Initiative edition welcomes Mariana Fonseca Medina, Senior Vice President of Loyalty for Latin America at MasterCard. Mariana’s journey is a testament to the versatility of a STEM foundation. The event will be held at the Science Museum of Virginia on Tuesday morning, March 5. Sunrise Science begins promptly at 8 a.m. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. so you can grab a complimentary cup of coffee to enjoy during the talk. The presentation will conclude by 9 a.m. A professional development networking reception will follow. Sunrise Science events are free, but registration is required. You can do so through the Science Museum’s website for both the lecture and networking opportunity that follows.

She will showcase how her civil engineering background transitioned into a kaleidoscopic career in different industries with roles in finance, marketing, consulting and strategy in numerous Latin American countries. For this special Up & Atom Women’s Leadership Initiative edition, Mariana Fonseca Medina’s motivational message will help attendees see the value of diversity and discover the boundless potential of a STEM education. Her story illustrates how STEM fundamentals and analytics are invaluable assets that empower women and minorities.

This Up & Atom Women’s Leadership Initiative edition features an enhanced networking session following the speaker series. After the talk ends at 9 a.m., pre-registered guests wanting to deepen their engagement with the speaker and each other are invited to stay for a special event. Guests can enjoy a continental breakfast while mingling with professionals from across the STEM field. After discussing navigating their own career path, guests will again hear from Mariana Fonseca Medina. In a more intimate setting, she will answer audience questions and offer suggestions about staying open to new opportunities, embracing learning as a life-long choice, responsibly leading teammates and overcoming barriers to meaningful employment. The Up & Atom networking session runs from 9–10 am and is free to attend. Space is limited to 75 guests for this special networking session and pre-registration is required. If you would like to attend this networking session, you will have the opportunity to add it onto your Sunrise Science registration.
