Hourigan Strengthens Leadership in Advanced Manufacturing and Data Centers with Key Appointments

Hourigan is expanding its leadership team to support the firm’s growing presence in two of the region’s most technical and high-demand industries: advanced manufacturing and data centers. Hourigan has named Mark Hourigan, Jr. to lead its advanced manufacturing and logistics sector and Mark Rainey to oversee its mission-critical and data center expansion.

These appointments build on Hourigan’s extensive track record in both industries, ensuring the firm continues to set the standard in these fast-growing industries for technical expertise, market knowledge and trends, and operational excellence.

Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics: As industries continue to invest in reshoring production and cutting-edge facilities to enhance production and meet consumer demand, Hourigan is well-positioned to support their growth. The firm’s advanced manufacturing team has developed and built facilities within key sub-markets, including Food & Beverage, Paper & Wood Product Processing, Plastics, Building Products and Precision Equipment manufacturing. The team sees growth in each of these areas and more within the rise of indoor agricultural technologies, battery and energy solutions, and defense manufacturing. Over the past several years, Hourigan has brought over 2 million square feet online and looks to bring on another 2.5 million square feet in the next two years with several new large-scale industrial facilities.

“We’re taking our long-standing commitment to advanced manufacturing and logistics to the next level, leveraging our deep experience and strong industry relationships to provide even greater value to manufacturers who require both technical sophistication and speed,” said Mark Hourigan, Jr., Director of Advanced Manufacturing & Logistics. “Our clients are looking for team members that can assess the business needs, collaborate with their teams, coordinate with their process engineers, and help design and build purpose-built facilities that are efficient, high quality, sustainable, and meet production demand.”

Hourigan’s integrated approach combines in-house construction, development, and technology-driven solutions to create highly efficient, scalable manufacturing environments.

Data Centers and Mission-Critical: Virginia continues to lead the nation in data center development, and Hourigan has played a key role in shaping this industry through the delivery of high-performance, resilient infrastructure projects for the Department of Defense and some of the region’s leading infrastructure providers. The firm’s expertise spans hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data centers—projects that demand both technical precision and rapid execution.

Mark Rainey, Director of Mission Critical & Data Centers, brings a decade of experience in delivering facilities throughout the Mid-Atlantic to Hourigan. “With the increasing demand for secure, scalable digital infrastructure, along with the growth of AI in our everyday lives, we’re focused on building best-in-class solutions for hyperscale, colocation, and federal clients,” said Rainey.

The appointment of these dedicated leaders underscores Hourigan’s long-term commitment to these industries and reinforces its reputation as a trusted partner for highly technical projects.

“Hourigan is leading the way in these key industries throughout the Mid-Atlantic, and we have been growing our presence in this space organically over the last several years. With growing foreign investment in advanced manufacturing, and the region’s continued dominance in next-generation data centers, having dedicated leaders who are focused on the latest trends, the development of the best people, and strong relationships allows us to be the partner of choice in Virginia, and throughout the Mid-Atlantic,” states Mark Hourigan, Sr., CEO of Hourigan.
