Empo Health: Remote Patient Monitoring for Diabetic Foot Care
Diabetic foot ulcers affect one-quarter of diabetic patients in their lifetime, leading to over 100 K amputations/yr and $40 B/yr in healthcare costs in the US alone. In this talk, Anuj will describe how Empo Health is designing an innovative imaging bathroom scale and digital health platform to address this massive problem. Empo aims to provide patients and providers at health systems like Carilion Clinic with the tools to remotely monitor diabetic feet for early signs of ulcers, so that early intervention can be staged to reduce amputations and save lives.
